Mordechai Lobo was a bookkeeper until 1926 for the firm "L.E. Vis, handelsagenten" on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal 29 in Amsterdam. The firm represented among others S.J. Spanjaard in Borne, a prominent textile factory. After his retirement he kept in touch with the Vis firm. His nickname was "de Boek".
