Johanna van der Sluis was married to Izaak de Hartog. They had twelve children.

Johanna de Hartog-van der Sluis died on 29 October 1942 at the age of 81 in camp Westerbork. She was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Assen on 1 November 1942.
