Eva Zimmer was a daughter of Menki Zimmer and Betty Blümle Möller. In 1939 she went to the Netherlands with her brother Alexander and joined the Haimer's Esch. There she got acquainted with her future husband Herbert Haas. She married him in Westerbork.
