Werner Dietrich Epstein attended the Hogere Textielschool (institute for textile studies) in Enschede. After the summer holidays in 1941, Jews were not allowed to return to the school. In the hall of the former Hogere Textielschool on the Ariënsplein a plaque lists the names of the students, teachers and former students who perished in the war.
