Mozes van Dam was the widower of Rosetta van Ploeg. The couple had nine children. Three of them had died before the war. Two sons, Isaac en Lion, did not survive the war. Both resided at another address. Mozes van Dam was almost 96 years old when he was arrested in Rotterdam. He was forced to walk to the train station.

Mozes van Dam died on 3 December 1942 at the age of 95 in camp Westerbork. He was buried on 8 December 1942 in the Jewish cemetery in Assen. Later, his remains were reburied in Rotterdam in the Jewish Cemetery Toepad.
