Josephine Okker, or Fifi or Fientje as she was called, worked at the department store De Bijenkorf untill this was forbidden by the German authorities. During a razzia Josephine and her mother Annette Okker-Okker, were arrested and brought to the Hollandsche Schouwburg. She managed to escape this former theater but shortly afterwards she went to the German authorities. Josephine did not want to leave her mother and wanted to be reunited with her again. After she arrived in Westerbork she found out that her mother had already been deported. She sent a postcard from Westerbork, in which she wrote that her mother already was gone, She ended with “alles sal reg kom” (everything will be alright).
