Salomon Koopman was a son of Elias Koopman and Duifje Ossedrijver. As a vendor on the streetmarket, he was selling fabrics from Tuesday till Saturday at Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam for some years. Salomon married Roosje Saphier in Amsterdam on 7 May 1884, a daughter of Joseph Saphier and Vogeltje Snoek. The couple had six children: one daughter died in infancy, one daughter passed away before the war and three chidren have survived the Holocaust. However, their daughter Sophia has been killed in Auschwitz on 14 January 1942. Salomon's wife Roosje passed away in Amsterdam on 26 February 1938, aged 72, and she has been interred two days later in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. Salomon self was killed 12 February 1943 in Auschwitz.
