Lena van Leeuwen was an orphan. She spent her childhood in the Israelite orphanage on the Pletterijstraat 66 in The Hague. When she was considered an adult, she left the orphanage and started working as a maid with a family. Eventhough she was living with this family, she was deported along with the rest of the orphange on March 6, 1943.
