Hartog Slier was a son of Philip Slier and Betje Visman. He married in Amsterdam on 1 July 1936 to Heintje Salomons.

Hartog Slier was married to Heintje Salomons. The couple had three children: Hartog (who died in 1937), Philip and Jacob. Two of Heintje Salomons' sisters moved in with her family. The first sister, Betsie Salomons, was the widow of Daniël Meijer. Together they had a son, Jacob Meijer. The other sister, Henriette Salomons, was married to Maurits Pront, who was still registered at his parents' address.
