Betsy Aaltje Polak, known as Bep, was born as one of a twin. Her twin-sister Carolina Bertha however, known as Lineke, passed away already in childhood at age 12. Bep was working as a domestic aid and shop assistant in Hoogeveen. She has been brought to Camp Westerbork with her parents in the early days of October 1942 where she had to stay for some more weeks. On 26 October she was deported to Auschwitz where she has been killed immediately upon arrival there on 29 October 1942.
