Clara van de Kar was a daughter of David van de Kar and Heintje Schraal, who both have passed away already before the war. Clara married 31 July 1912 in Amsterdam to Soesman Erwteman, a son of Hijman Erwteman and Heintje Polak.
Clara was born in a family with eleven children, of whom two have died before the war. However her siblings Marianne, Salomon, Gompert, Coenraad, Grietje, Sara, Philip and Levie have been killed all during the Holocaust.
