Michel de Vries was a son of Hijman de Vries and Branca Zak. He married 24 March 1937 in Amsterdam Rachel Polak, a daughter of Isaac Polak and Esther Cohen. The couple had one son: Robert.
Michel had three other siblings: Abraham, Judith en Rebecca. Also they have been killed durint the Holocaust.

This person is commemorated on the monument Schaduwkade in Amsterdam. The names of the 200 jewish inhabitants of the Nieuwe Keizersgracht are placed on the canal wall opposite the houses where they once lived.
