In November 1941, an obituary was placed in Het Joodsche Weekblad for Jozef Klein. The same edition of the weekly also contained an obituary.
Jozef Klein was a teacher at the (previously) private Jewish religious school in the former Watergraafsmeer. On 28 November 1927, he was appointed administrator of the education in the Dutch-Jewish Main Synagogue in Amsterdam. By now, he had climbed up to the rank of head clerk.
Together with E.S. Hen and S. Poons, he produced a translation of Beresjiet (Genesis) suitable for school education. He was secretary of the association 'Tifereth Bachoeriem', the association involved with studying the Misjnah.
