Eva Mozes Bierman was the daughter of Aron Bierman and Jette Philip Stern. She grew up in a family with ten children. At the start of the war only her brother Abraham Bierman was alive.
Eva Bierman married Daniel Mozes (also known by the name Nijveen) in Emmen on 6 September 1892. The couple had four children: Simon, Mietje, Aron (who died at a young age) and one child that survived the war.
