Jacob Wolff, also known as Japie, had straight hair that hung over his pale face. He was a smart, friendly boy who was good at heading a ball. His father was a stamp-maker, according to the sign next to his door. During the war, Japie was at first exempt from deportation because he worked for the Jewish Council. Later he was deported anyway.
There is a story about Japie Wolff (in Dutch) on the website of the Rivierenbuurt [a neighbourhood in Amsterdam].
