Arthur Mendel was a son of Max Mendel and Toni Herzfeld. Two of the three children from that family survived the war. Arthur's hobby was genealogy. In November 1938 he was sent to Buchenwald. In February 1939 he went to Westerbork. He married there. On 4 September 1944 he was deported to Theresienstadt. From there he was deported to Auschwitz at the end of September.
