Claus Justus Neumann was married to Liese Reinsberg. They both worked at the N.V. Confectiefabriek Lambert, Janssen & Neumann, founded by his uncle Ernst Neumann.
During the war the company managed to get extension of deportation for its Jewish employees. For Claus and Liese the protection had no effect. They were picked up during a raid in Amsterdam and were sent to Auschwitz with the first train from Westerbork.
