Kaatje Boeken was a daughter of Marcus Boeken and Heintje Goedel. Kaatje was married to Hartog Grootkerk. The couple had eight children: Aäron (who died at a young age), Betje, Max, Heintje, Salomon, Nathan, Jacob and one child who survived the war. In 1941 the children resided at the Apeldoornse Bos.
