Joël Denneboom, born in 1923 in Avereest, was a son of Leon Denneboom and Roosjen Cohen.
Since 31 August 1938 Joël Denneboom lived in with the family of Levie Jacob Wonder in Weesp at the address Slijkstraat 20. According the City Archive of Amsterdam, his profession was listed as house servant but he might has started his career as slaughterer.
At the time of the obligatory registration of the Jews in the Netherlands from early 1941, Joël was registered by the Jewish Council at the address Vrolikstraat 245 down floor. Since April 1941, there lived also Marcus Lazarus with his stepdaughters Alie Roza Denneboom and Eva Alida Denneboom with her husband Samson Leijden van Amstel. Alie Roza and Eva Alida were cousins of Joël Denneboom: his father Leon was a brother of Israël Denneboom, the father of Alie Roza and Eva Alida.
The City Archive of Amsterdam reveals that Joël Denneboom aftwards has moved again: per 8 July 1942 his address was Vossiusstraat 10 ground floor in Amsterdam.
However, 7 August 1942 Joël Denneboom has been deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz. On arrival there 10 August, it was very likely that he had been selected for forced labor. Joël died in Auschwitz, somewhere in September 1942; his date of death was officially established as 30 September 1942.
