Gabriël Jacobs appears on a handwritten list of all persons who held offices in the Dutch-Jewish community of Haarlem during the early years of the war. Photographs remain of each official. Gabriël Jacobs was the secretary to the Dutch-Jewish community in Haarlem, the secretary to the Dutch-Jewish Joles Hospital, assistant cantor, religious instructor, shokhet and leader of the synagogue for young adults of the Dutch-Jewish community in Haarlem and prepared the dead for the religious institution Gemieloeth Chassadiem. Gabriël Jacobs was married and lived with his wife at 20 Pijntorenstraat in Haarlem.
