Aaltje Boeki was a daughter of Azor Boeki and Johanna Bronkhorst. 25 July 1934 she married in Rotterdam Abraham Samuel de Vries from Brielle, a son of Salomon de Vries and Keetje van der Hoek. 9 October 1937 their son Salomon Azor was born, who has been killed in the Shoah, just as his parents.
After having lodged at Hugo de Grootstraat 142c in Rotterdam with the parents of Aaltje, they have lived at Willem Buijtewechstraat 206c and their last known address was per 7 November 1940 Schepenstraat 95c in Rotterdam.
3 December 1942, Aaltje de Vries-Boeki and her son Salomon Azor were deported from Rotterdam to Camp Westerbork and 20 February 1943 put on transport to concentration camp Vught. 8 June 1943 both have been deported to Sobibor with the so called “childrens transport” and upon arrival there 11 June 1943 immediately killed.
Aaltje’s husband Abraham Samuel de Vries was deported from Rotterdam to Camp Westerbork that 3 December 1942 too. From there he was put on transport 22 February 1943 to concentration camp Vught, where Abraham Samuel was forcedly put to work in the outdoor command Moerdijk, a so-called “Aussenkommando” of camp Vught at the port of Moerdijk, where he stayed in barack 2B until he was deported 6 July 1943 to Sobibor where he was killed upon arrival there 9 July 1943.
During the Second World War an outdoor command of concentration camp Vught was established at the port of Moerdijk. Between 26 March 1943 and the end of February 1944, the old ship’s barracks at the harbour quayage were used as outdoor command. About 500 Jews stayed In these ship’s barracks where they arrived on foot from train station Lage Zwaluwe. The Jews were deployed for digging anti-tank ditches in the province of Zuid Holland and the West-corner of Noord Brabant. Also political prisoners arrived in the outdoor command of Moerdijk.
