Max Elias was married to Helene Löwenstein. They lived in Rotterdam on Westewagenstraat 26a. In 1936 they moved to Mathenesserlaan 320-b. Max Elias died in the bombing of Rotterdam. According to his death certificate, the time of death was 2:00 p.m. on 14 May 1940. This is consistent with the time of the bombing, 1:20 pm.
