About Jakob Franken

Jacob Franken lived with his daughter Henriette. He was
a retired doorkeeper at the 'Joodse Invalide' in Amsterdam. According to tradition he was a dignified, very friendly, grey gentleman, loved by his neighbours and treated with respect by all. He was the first of the family who was deported. When he said goodbye he said he was going to Theresienstadt where hopefully things would not be so bad. When he had already left people heard he was an Italian honorary citizen and therefore did not have to go.
