On Saturday, 11 April 1942, at 7 o'clock in the evening, ten Jewish residents of Leeuwarden were arrested in retaliation for removing the sign 'No Jews allowed' from a public bench in the Vossepark. They were sent to the camp at Amersfoort. Abraham Feitsma (known as Appie) was among them. He lived at 67 Transvaalstraat in Leeuwarden. He owned the shoe store De Uitkomst on the Nieuwestad in Leeuwarden.
