The association 'Ezer Jatom' opened a Jewish orphanage on 4 May 1932 at 66 Pletterijstraat in The Hague. On 6 March 1943, the Nazis picked up the children and staff from the orphanage. Among them were young German refugees like Moses Karl Reiter.

Channa Spielmann was the mother of Moses Karl Reiter. She lived at the Gustav Adolfstrasse 9 in Leipzig. His father (probably his stepfather), Simon, had died already.
