Jossel David Friedberg was first married to Olga Isacksohn. She died in 1935. They had three children: Benno, Fanny and a child that survived the war. In 1938 Jossel remarried Elfriede Huppert. They first lived in Scheveningen and later in Amsterdam.

Jossel David Friedberg was a retired works manager. He helped his son Benno with his resistance work. In October 1942 he was caught in Amsterdam and deported to Sobibor via Westerbork.
