Salomon Schelvis was a son of Mozes Schelvis en Marianne Wurms. He married in Amsteram on 5 June 1907 to Hanna van Kleef, aged 23, daughter of Meijer van Kleef and Margaretha Rood. She passed away in Amsterdam on 21 August 1934.
The couple had eight children together: Margaretha, Rachel and Judith (who both have survived the Holocaust), Meijer and the with their parents living Marianna, Leendert, Aron and Hartog.
