Diena de Leeuw was a resident at the Beileroord psychiatric institution in Beilen. During the raid in the night of 2 to 3 October 1942, she was removed from the institution with eight other patients and deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork.

Diena was the daughter of Levie Joseph de Leeuw (1832-1917) and Regina de Leeuw-de Leeuw (1850-1912). Two of her sisters, Geertruida and Mietje, were also killed.
