Jozef Magnus was a son of David Magnus and Margje Levie. He married on 10 February 1912 in Winterswijk to Johanna Carolina Gans, a daughter of Alexander Gans and Antje Nijstad. Johanna and her sister Louise, married to Nathan Magnus, were both killed during the Holocaust.
Also Jozef's siblings Simon, Zientje, Grietje, Jacob David, Saartje, Mozes, Nathan and Klaartje did not survive the Holocaust too.
