Heintje Ensel was a daughter of David Ensel and Hanna Fransman. She married Hijman Emmerik in Amsterdam on 18 December 1912, a son of Jacob Emmerik and Branca Fortuin.
Heintje came from a family with 10 children. Three children have died before the war. Besides herself, all her other siblings, Rebecca, Abraham, Andries, Christina, Manus and Raphael have been killed during the Holocaust.
