Salomon van de Kar was a son of David van de Kar and Heintje Schraal, who both have passed away already before the war. Salomon married 5 July 1906 in Amsterdam to Sara Speelman, a daughter of Pinas Speelman and Leentje Hes. The couple had no children.
Salomon was born in a family with eleven children, of whom two have died before the war. However his siblings Marianne, Clara, Gompert, Coenraad, Grietje, Sara, Philip and Levie have been killed all during the Holocaust.
