Herbert Blumenthal moved with his family in 1937 from Berlin to Amsterdam. He worked there as a dentist. He was a family man. His family was the most important thing in his life. He loved classical music. He was an optimist. After the murder of his son Peter in Mauthausen something in him was hurt, maybe even destroyed. His eyes always looked very sad. In May 1943 the family was brought to Westerbork and from there in September 1943 to Theresienstadt. From Theresienstadt Herbert was taken to Auschwitz with one of the last transports, where he was murdered immediately.
