Frederika Barber was a daughter of Manus Barber and Flora van Velzen. She married 10 April 1935 in Amsterdam to Aaron Canes, a son of Philip Canes and Mietje Swaab. the couple had two children, Mia and Karel Meijer.
Frederika Barber was born in a family of elven children; one brother died at young age and one sister survived the war. Her other siblings, Meijer, Judic, Sientje, Elisabeth, Marianne, Sara, Salomon and Isaac have been killed all during the Holocaust.
