About Abraham Blitz.

Abraham Blitz was a son of David Blitz and Rachel de Jong. His father, born in 1862 died 28 March 1940 in Amsterdam. His mother, Rachel de Jong was born in 1864 and died already 16 May 1929.

Abraham was born into a family with ten children. Three of them have died at a very young age. His other siblings, namely Grietje (23-12-887), Marcus (2-6-1891), Sara (21-1-1896), Salomon (8-1-1897) and Mauritz (26-3-1898) and their families were killed in the Shoah, just as he self. Only his sister Rebecca survived the Holocaust but not her husband and child: they too have been killed.

Abraham Blitz was unmarried. He was a sawyer of diamonds and diamond polisher by trade and lived for some years at Tolstraat 66 3rd floor in Amsterdam. 18 February 1939 he moved to Boterdiepstraat 23 1st floor and already 19 July of that same year, he moved over to "Korper" at Carillonstraat 15 down floor, located in the "diamond quarter" in Amsterdam-South.

On 4 August 1942 Abraham Blitz was registered in Westerbork and three days later, on 7 August deported to Auschwitz. On arrival there he was not sent directly to the gas chambers; on his registration card of the Jewish Council, after receipt of a message from list 643 page 20, that Abraham Blitz "has died" in Auschwitz on 17/18 August 1942.
