Philip Jacobs was a merchant. He was a good amateur photographer. For a hobby he taught shorthand and he was a member of 'Steeds Sneller' (Always Faster). Philip ended his own life by jumping of the roof of a house in the Weesperstraat which was in possession of the family. He lies buried in Diemen.
