Rozette Swart was the seventh of the nine children of the merchant Levie Swart and Frouwke Kropveld. Her father died in Amsterdam on 17 January 1940. Rozette was born at 187 Valkenburgerstraat in Amsterdam. She was unmarried.

Rozette Swart worked in October 1941 as a seamstress with the lingerie- and ready-made clothing company SIDVA (Simon de Vries Ateliers) in Amsterdam. She then had been in office for two years.
