Jesaya Swart was the ninth and last child born of the marriage between the labourer Levie Swart and Frouwke Kropveld. His father died in Amsterdam on 17 January 1940. Jesaya was born at Valkenburgerstraat 187, Amsterdam. He was deported to Mauthausen by way of Buchenwald. Jesaya Swart’s birth certificate has been preserved.
