Samuel Scholte was a son of Barend Scholte and Grietje Borstel. He married 23 March 1927 in Amsterdam Rachel Waas, a daughter of Mozes Waas and Esther Polak. The couple had two children, of whom one little daughter died, only 3 weeks old. The other son Mozes has been killed in Auschwitz.
Samuel Scholte was born in a family with eight children, of whom two children have died already in 1895 at a very young age. One brother, who was married to Martha Monnickendam, survived the war and was remarried in 1950. Levie’s other siblings, Levie, Leentje, Anna, and Klaartje have been killed all during the Holocaust.
