David van Dantzig was married to Wilhelmina Jacoba van Dantzig-Catz. The couple had 4 children: Ada Rosa van Dantzig (also known as Anna), Paul Herman van Dantzig, Jenny Louise van Dantzig and a child that survived the war. David, Wilhelmina and Jenny all lived in the Israelite Orphanage Megaddelee Jetomiem.

During the war David van Dantzig tried to flee to saver places. He was arrested in France. On 11 february 1943 he was deported from the transit camp Drancy (transport # 47) to Auschwitz, together with his wife and three of his four children.
