Alice Wolf was the daughter of Moritz Wolf and Jeanette Schwarz. The family came from Essen, Germany. In 1937 Alice fled to Amsterdam. Her son Herbert was born there that same year. With some help, Alice moved into a house in Soestdijk. She turned this house into a home for children who had come from Germany illegally. This children’s home acquired the name of Beatrix. In addition to her own son Herbert, she cared for seven other children. Alice, her son Herbert and probably five other children from the home were sent to Westerbork, and deported from there to Auschwitz.
