Jacob Andries Cune was the son of Andries Isaia Cune and Elisabeth Polanus. Jacob Andries married in 1906 to Sophia (Fietje) van Tijn, who died in 1926. Jacob Andries and Sophia had one child, that survived the war. Jacob Andries remarried to Hanna Sajet.
