Simon Hartog from Woudrichem (1828-1897), son of Levie Hartog and Betje Kalker, married Saartje Abraham Meijer from Woubrugge (1841-1917), a daughter of Abraham Meijer and Hanna van Blankensteijn. Together they had eight children, namely Hanna, Elisabeth, Levie, Abraham, Jansje, Leentje, Jozeph and Jacob. The family resided since 30 June 1879 in Rotterdam, where they have lived at Veemarkt, Lange Warande, Oppert and per 21 March 1894 at Gedempte Binnenrotte 13.
Leentje Hartog, born 1874 in Woudrichem, lived since 30 June 1879 independently at the address Roo Valkstraat 15a in Rotterdam and her brother Jozeph lived in with her. In 1914, she had lodgers: in February her brother Abraham came from Paris and in September her brother Jacob came from Brussels. Leentje remained unmarried and passed away in Rotterdam 1 March 1942 and the funeral records at the Jewish cemetery Toepad in Rotterdam reveal that Leentje Hartog was buried there.

Abraham Hartog, shop assistent, married 22 August 1923 in Rotterdam the non-Jewish Catharina Simons, a daughter of Hendrik Egidus Simons and Wilhelmina Johana Severina Pansier. Since 1914 Abraham lived in with his sister Leentje and since 1919 with his brother Jozeph at Hoofdsteeg 17 but moved 4 Februray 1924 with his wife to Den Haag and lived at first at Van Swietenstraat 118, but 3 May 1935 Abraham and Catharina went to the address Badhuisweg 305 in Den Haag. Abraham passed away there 4 November 1942 at 10:00 o’clock p.m. and his wife Catharina died that same day at 12:30 o’clock a.m. As far as known they had no offspring.

Jacob Hartog arrived in Rotterdam in 1914 from Brussels and lived in with his sister Leentje. In 1919 he lived in with his brother Jozeph at Hoofdsteeg 17 in Rotterdam moved 28 June 1922 from Rotterdam to Nobelstraat 28 in Utrecht. There, at age 43, he married 10 August 1922 to the non-Jewish Aloijsis Josepha Fontijn from Ossendrecht, 32 years old, a daughter of Johannes Baptist Fredericus Fontijn and Johanna Catharina Schroeijers. Jacob Hartog was a shopkeeper. He passed away 21 June 1940.

Jansje Hartog, born 1871 in Woudrichem, married at age 27 in Rotterdam to the 27 year old Salomo Dasberg from Rotterdam, a depot holder of cigars, a son of Hartog Dasberg and Hester Boesman. The couple lived till 1901 in Dordrecht, where their first son Simon Hartog was born. March 1901 the family moved to Rotterdam, where the little boy died in June 1901, 10 months old. Later Hester was born in 1901 and Hartog in 1907. Both children were killed in the Shoah. Since 17 October 1938 Salomo and Jansje lived at C.P.Tielestraat 51b in Rotterdam, their last known address. They were together deported 12 October 1942 from Camp Westerbork to Auschwitz and upon arrival there 15 October 1942 immediately killed.

Levie Hartog, born 1869 in Woudrichem, married 25 October 1899, age 31 to Alida Spier from Dordrecht, een dochter van Heijman Hartog Spier en Dina Blauw. The couple had two children, namely Simon Hijman in 1900 and Dina in 1902. Both children were killed in the Shoah. Levie Hartog passed away 22 May 1917 in Rotterdam and was interred in the Jewish Cemetery Toepad. 5 January 1943 Levie’s widow Alida passed away in Rotterdam at age 73 but it is not known where she was buried.

Jozeph Hartog was an optician and lived from 1914 till 1919 in with his sister Leentje at Roo Valkstraat 15a in Rotterdam. 23 December 1919 he married in Rotterdam the non-Jewish Cornelia Susanna Stolk from Delft, a daughter of Nicolaas Stolk and Catharina van Kampen. The couple had two children: Selly in 1920 and Catharina in 1923. Jozeph and Catharina resided since 23 December at the address Hoofdsteeg 17 in Rotterdam. Resident family members then were his siblings Leentje, Abraham and Jacob. 1 April 1931 Jozeph Hartog moved with his family to Den Haag and started at 2e Adelheidstraat 131. 9 July 1938 their address was Badhuisweg 59 in Den Haag. The family surived the war: Jozeph Hartog passed away in Den Haag, 18 November 1949, aged 73.
