Mathilda van Oosten, also known as Tilly, lived with her parents. During the war she went into hiding at the Franklinstraat in The Hague. When the great raid of 1943 took place she committed suicide. She is buried at the general cemetery at the Kerkhoflaan in The Hague.
A book that Mathilda van Oosten got in 1923 from a American friend has remained. On the inside of the cover is written: 'To Dear friend Tilly van Oosten. From Bill'. There are also two addresses given: Van Speijstraat 8, Groningen and Coop. Groninger Zaadtelers Ver., Hoogte der A 6, Groningen.
