Selma Visser was a daughter of Mozes Visser and his second wife Betje de Leeuwe. She married Marcus van Engel in Amsterdam on 9 November 1927, a son of Nathan van Engel and Hannchen Bendin. The couple had two daughters, of whom one died already in 1931, only 3 years old. At the same date as Selma self, her other daughter Ruth was killed in Sobibor too.
