Jacques van Praag was a son of Levie van Praag and Sabiena Cohen. He married 7 January 1942 in Amsterdam Anna Lisa Barasch, born in Cologne, a daughter of Heinrich Barasch and Jenny Kempler. Jacques's sister Betsy Helena survived the war however both sisters of Anna Lisa, Rosa and Sophie have been killed during the Shoah.
Jacques van Praag, butcher by trade, lived with his parenss since 22 July 1912 at Lange Niezel 9 ground floor, but moved with his bride per 7 Januari 1942 to Jekersrtraat 17 II in Amsterdam South. Without being summoned, Jacques van Praag and Anna Lisa Barasch have reported themselves for the employment of provisional work in Germany; on 8 August borth arrived in Westerbork and two days later, on 10 August Jacques and Anna Lisa were put on transport to Auschwitz. On arrival there on 13 August,both were put to work as forced laborers in or outside the camp; an exact place and date of death is not known but the official place and date of death has been established as 30 September 1942.
