Barend Zegerius was a son of Meijer Hartog Zegerius and Duifje Lap. He married Eva Beesemer in Zaandam on 31 July 1918, a daughter of Abraham Beesemer and Johanna Winnik. The couple had three children, of whom one baby-boy died only four days old. Their daughter and her husband, to whom she was married in July 1942, have survived the Holocaust but their unmarried son Maurice has been killed during the Shoah, somewhere in Mid-Europe.
Barend Zegerius was born into a family of ten children, of whom two have survived the Holocaust and one child died before the war in the Apeldoornse Bos. The other children, Hartog, Levie, Elisabeth, Michiel, Lion, and Sophia have been killed all during the Shoah.
