Sophia Koopman was the only daughter of Salomon Koopman and Roosje Saphier, who has been killed during the Shoah in Auschwitz. She was born into a family with six girls, of whom one has died in infancy, one deceased before the war and three have survived the Holocaust.
Sophia married Salomon Coppenhagen in Amsterdam on 7 September 1916, a son of Mozes Coppenhagen and Rachel Halverstad. They had two sons: Mozes and Pinehas Joseph, who have been killed both in the Shoah: Mozes lost his life in Lublin on 30 November 1943 and Pinehas Joseph, still living at home with his parents, was killed together with his father on 30 April 1943 in Auschwitz. Sophia self was already killed in Auschwitz on 14 January 1943.
