Leon Levie was a son of Joseph Levie and Rika Hoogstraal. He was a boardinghouse keeper, cantor and clerk of the main synagogue in Amsterdam. He married Mina Delmonte in Amsterdam on 28 July 1937, a daughter of Emanuel Delmonte and Betje Mendels. The couple had two children: Joseph Emanuel and Rika. They were killed – together with their parents – on 4 June 1943 in Sobibor.
