Salomon Arpels was a son of Nathan Arpels and Vrouwtje Aap. He married Sara Kool on 10 June 1903 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Simon Kool en Johanna van Vliet. The couple had two daughters: in 1935 their daughter Jeannette was born and in 1907 Flora, who have been married resp. in 1929 and 1935 and lived elsewhere in Amsterdam. Salomon Arpels and Sara Kool had three grandchildren, of whom one grandson has survived the Holocaust. Both other grandsons, Loekie and Sonny Hakker, have been killed in the Shoah, just as both Salomon's daughters Jeannette and Flora. One son-in-law (Flora's spouse) has survived the Shoah. However also Salomon Arpels and his wife Sara Kool has been killed in the Shoah: On 5 September 1942 they arrived in Camp Westerbork, and from there deported "Eastwards" on 7 September and upon arrival in Auschwitz immediately killed on 10 September 1942.
