About Levie Polak

Levie Polak was a son of Barend Polak and Elisabeth Prijs. His father died a few months before the outbroke of the war in 1940 and his mother had died already in 1926. Levie Polak married in Rotterdam to Sara Fresco on 6 October 1920, a daughter of Meijer Fresco and Hester van der Stam. The couple had two daughers: Elisabeth (who married in 1939 Marinus de Beer and survived the war) and Hester.

Samuel Polak, an unmarried brother of Levie, lived in in the family of Levie Polak at Statenweg 111a in Rotterdam. On 31 July 1942 the complete family, thus Levie, his wife Sara, daughter Hester and also his brother Samuel arrived in transit camp Westerbork and from there deported to Auschwitz on 3 August 1942. All have lost their lives there on 30 September 1942.

Levie Polak was born into a family with eight children. His sister Sientje and brother Simon have survived the Holocaust. The others, Rebecca, Isaac, Samuel, Hijman, Mozes (and Levie self) have been killed in the Shoah.
